underground journey

clubs and galleries.

for example London
can offer a diverse

from the traditional
pub lunch to exotic
international food.
There are also a
variety of shops and
street markets to
visit. London has
something for
everyone - day or
night.

of staff is always
available to offer
advice on a range of
issues. We
especially ensure
that our younger,
more venerable

assisted in every

ensure that their

Home Office Visas
Once you have
enrolled (please see
Admissions Procedure
for more details),
we will send you a
CAS letter, which
will help you obtain
a visa should you
need one to study in
the UK. See the

Overseas students
who require a visa
to study in the UK
are advised to apply
for courses in good
time to allow for
visa and foreign
exchange
arrangements to be
completed.
Airport Transfer
On your arrival
in the UK, we can
arrange for you to
be met at the
airport and taken to
your accommodation
(if requested) or
brought to the
college (office
hours only). If you
would like to be
received at the
airport you must
inform the College
of your flight
details as soon as
you have them. These
should include the
name of the airline,
the flight number,
the date and time of
arrival, airport you
are flying from and
the airport you are
arriving at.

Travelling in London
Some forms of
accommodation may be
within walking
distance of the
East London College. Most
accommodation will
require travel on
London Underground
(underground train
network) or Bus.
Students on courses
of 12 weeks or more
at East London
College also qualify
for up to 30%
student discount on
weekly and monthly
travel cards that
can be used on
London Underground
and buses.
The College
administration staff
can provide
assistance in
applying for a
student travel card.
If you are unsure
about using public
transport the
college
administration staff
or your tutor will
be happy to explain
it to you.

Health Services
Treatment under
Britain's National
Health Service will
be given to students
on courses of 12
weeks (3 months) or
longer. The College
will be happy to
help long-term
students to register
with their local General Practitioner (Doctor). For those
students studying
for less than 12
weeks, we strongly
recommend you take
out travel
insurance.

Private Bank Accounts
Our friendly
administrative staff
can help you to open
your own private
bank account in the
UK. You will usually
need to studying on
a course of a
minimum of six
months at the
East London College and the
application should
be made at the start
of the course. If
you wish to bring a
substantial amount
of money into the
country for your
living expenses, we
suggest you open a
bank account with an
international bank
(such as HSBC) and
notify them that you
wish to operate your
account in the UK.
Food and Drink
There are also
restaurants, snack
bars and fast food
establishments
within five minutes'
walk.
Computer Labs
East London
College has a number
of Computer
Laboratories
equipped with the
latest industry
standard
workstations using
the latest software
as well as access to
the Internet.
Computing students
have access to
languages such as
Visual Basic, C++,
JAVA, and databases
such as Access. Both
hardware and
software are
regularly reviewed
and updated.
Library/Self-Access Centre
East London
College has a
limited number of
reference books that
are available for
short-term loan and
reference.
For a wider
choice of general
reference books, we
encourage our
students to register
with one of the
local public
libraries in the
surrounding area.
Fax, E-mail and Internet facilities
Fax facilities
are available at the
reception. There is
a small charge for
sending faxes.
Students have
unlimited free
access to the
Internet, allowing
you to research
projects and to
check your personal
email.
